Please carve out some time, find a space, grab an empty room and contemplate this incredible fact, not a myth, not a fairy tale, not an illusion. The God of the entire universe loved you so much, yes you, whose eyes are reading this, who is known and loved by this same God, whose number of hairs are known, became an infant, born poor, born in very humble and extreme conditions, so that as the first line of the Catechism of the Catholic Church can be fulfilled. "God infinitely perfect and blessed in himself, in a plan of sheer goodness, freely created man to make him share in his own blessed life." This line is the first line of paragraph 1 in the Cat and basically states why we have meaning, why we are loved, what is our destiny. God became a human so you could by joy, share in divine life. God became Jesus Christ.
Is this rational, does it make sense, is there evidence? Yes to all three. You just have to look. For those who have doubts, those who are agnostic or atheists, I invite you to take a look, and for those who love those who are doubting, agnostic or struggling, learn, read, find. There are several places to look, books & CD’s, but I mention two: catholicanswers.com and magiscenter.com.
For those believers who do not practice your faith, i.e. who do not fulfill our Lord's command of love every week & "Do this in memory of me”, please understand this is not the path, the way, the lifestyle, to share in God’s own blessed life. The Father, Son and Spirit have created and called you to be holy and joyful. There is more. There is first and foremost the summit of all Christian life, the Holy Mass, the Liturgy of the Eucharist. I invite you to learn more, to seek the Sacrament of Reconciliation, to grow in love of Jesus Christ and His kingdom, that He established our Catholic Church. Fr Lukefahr has a book called “We Worship.” Dr. Brant Pitre has written many books and has a CD on why did the first Jewish Christians believe in the real presence of the Eucharist. Scott Hahn has books and CD’s as well.
Another great resource is Formed.org which, as a parishioner, you have free access. Embrace your Catholic faith and be joyful here and inherit eternal life.
Merry Christmas and Happy, Holy Holidays
P.S. We have some great events coming up, our exciting Dinner Auction, our Men’s ACTS retreat or our Women’s ACTS retreat.
